WELCA

The Purpose Statement of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America is – As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world.

Our goal  is – As a community of women of the ELCA at St. Paul, through our participation and support of the ministries and programs for the year, our mission is to mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.

All women of St. Paul are members of WELCA. We offer five different circles (groups) for the women of the church. Each circle meets once a month for bible studies, fellowship, community service and service to St. Paul Lutheran Church. The circles participate in preparing coffee for Sunday worship, Lenten Desserts, feeding the homeless, providing food for Pathways of Hope, Brown Bags for the La Habra Resource Center, Treats for Troops, and many more outreach ministries. Each circle would love to have visitors and new members. If any of the circles appeal to you, please contact the circle leaders listed below to receive more information and a heartfelt invitation to join them at their meetings:

Circles & Outreach

Dorcas

Our faithful group of ladies gets together at individual member's homes and indulges in delicious desserts. This is not only filling our bodies, but we will be filling our hearts and minds with the bible study The Gather Magazine.

As an ongoing project, we help with the food challenge at St. Paul and we participate in all WELCA activities. Dorcas is always blessed to receive new members; there is always room for more. Anyone interested in joining us is welcome.

Meets the 2nd Tuesday at 7 pm – contact Donna Austin

Elizabeth

The ELizabeth Circle is the only circle that gathers during the daytime and the only group which meets all year long. Our members contribute to and support the community through the Angel Tree, food challenges and other service projects as well as participating in WELCA activities. We study the bible with studies from The Gather Magazine.

Anyone who is young at heart, who enjoys bible studies, lively discussions, service projects, social activities with members, and crafts would be a perfect member for our group and is encouraged to join at any time.

Meets the 4th Wednesday at 10 am - contact Joyce Wolf

Esther

Esther circle meets for social time with a small bible topic lesson as well. We also do a small project each month. Please contact one of our leaders for more information.

Meets the 2nd Monday at 7 pm – contact Diane Collins or Pam Montgomery

Rahab

Our circle is a group of fun faithful women. Some of us are young mothers some of us are young professionals. We meet at the home of a different member each month and take turns leading a devotion. Rahab circle is a place where women come together in fellowship, shared faith and social ministry. We chose the name Rahab because although she had a less than virtuos profession, God worked through her for His glory and brought Rahab into His promise, despite the world's labels and prejudices. We hope that Rahab Circle will be a place where we can see ourselves and each other the way that God sees us, instead of through the world's eyes.

We would love for you to join us! It's always a great time!

Meets the 2nd Thursday at 7:00 – contact Greta Goellrich

Sarah

Sarah Circle consists of fun-loving, young at heart women. We take turns meeting in each other's homes. Sarah circle members share in fellowship, socialization, support of on-going service projects, charities and have faith topic devotions and discussions. We share our view of Christian Women Values, morals and blessings as wives, mothers, grandmothers, friends and sisters in Christ. We actively support WELCA programs, Pathways of Hope and St Paul Lutheran Church activities. We love new members and guests! Come join us for fun and fellowship!

Meets the 4th Monday at 7 pm – contact Sheila Richards
