St.
Paul Chancel Choir
Make a joyful noise unto the
Lord" (Psalm 100) . . .
When was the last time you sang? I don’t mean in the shower or in your car,
but with family or friends – belting out a song for all you’re worth. Probably
in church, if at all, since the reality is that we don’t have many
opportunities for community singing.
"He
who sings, prays twice." - St. Augustine.
St. Paul Chancel Choir is an
ensemble of singers whose primary ministry is the leading of the musical
portions of the liturgy.
"I
will sing with the Spirit and with understanding also" I Corinthians 14:15
On a weekly basis, the choir
prepares liturgical music and anthems. We greatly enjoy and uphold the Lutheran
choral tradition but are also adventurous. We experiment with the ancient as
well as current music, mantras, chants, and choral repertoire in diverse
styles. We strive to prepare Christ-centered music from a variety of historical
periods and traditions, sung in English, Latin, and other languages. We also
have the special treat of singing with accomplished instrumentalists: flute,
oboe/English horn, violin, viola, cello, string and brass ensembles.
It is a delight to hear what can be accomplished when choir members, support,
assist, and encourage each other during rehearsals. Whether you are a member or
a friend of St. Paul, we warmly welcome soprano, alto, tenor, and bass or “I
don’t know” voices!
During the regular program year, the choir sings for the 8am service except on
the 2nd Sunday of each month, when we devote our time to the 11am
service. We also lead/participate in the Advent/Christmas service, the
celebrations of Christmas Eve, Holy Week, and Easter Sunday. The Sunday morning
call time is 7:30am. Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to
8:30pm. Please contact Chris Winn, Director of Music or call the Church office.
We would love to have you join us!
St. Paul Concert Series
St. Paul Lutheran Church
annually presents St. Paul Concert Series. Established by Music Director, W. Chris
Winn, The St. Paul Concert Series is supported by our St. Paul patrons and
guests. The series enhances and increases the musicality of the St. Paul, as
well as serve as a magnet for local and professional musical talent.
The
Series provides people in Orange County and neighboring areas with the
opportunity of added appreciation for music and the performing arts. The
intimacy of the sanctuary allows audiences to feel an integral part of each
unique performance.
Concerts are from
October to March on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 4pm. The
recommended donation is $10.
We
invite you to attend the reception in the Parish Hall, where you may share the
love of music one-on-one with your friends and the performers. Our Worship and Music Committee
prepares a beautiful reception suited to the theme of the concert: “A German
Christmas” and Stöllen or “Forever Tango” and Dolce de Leche.
Celebration Ringers
(Handbell Ensemble)
Handbells are beautiful to the
ear and captivating to the eye. Adults and youth are invited to be part of the
Handbell Choir. There is no age limit to participate in this very rewarding
experience. Weekly rehearsals are on Wednesday Evenings at 6pm. Contact Chris
Winn, Director of Music for details.
To
get started, the ability to read music is a plus, but not necessary as
instruction is always available during rehearsals. Handbells add a spiritual
musical dimension to our worship experience, and are played for preludes or as
accompaniment to anthems.
It is a marvelous opportunity for
those interested in expressing their desire to become musically involved beyond
singing

Multimedia Team
During the Sunday morning
services in the Sanctuary, a team of sound and media ministers are working
behind the scenes to ensure that all the messages are communicated well to the
church body: from the sermon lessons to the music, to the scripture
readings for the day, to the announcements for the week. Our sound
ministers run the soundboard and oversee all the necessary connections required
to make the sound effective. The Media ministers run the SundayPlus computer
program during services to give a visual effect to all components of the
worship service. We invite you to be a part of our Multi-Media Sound
Team. Contact Chris Winn, the Director of Music if you’re interested.
Praise Team
Psalms
30:12 – “To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when
the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are
the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must
worship in spirit and in truth." - John 4:23-24
